They say that you don’t know what you need until you need it. Well, that certainly rang true when I broke my leg and found myself totally reliant on crutches for the best part of four months!

After almost 24/7 bed rest for two weeks in hospital, my homecoming was somewhat fraught with mixed emotion.  I was so glad to be home in my own space, but also incredibly anxious and nervous.  I no longer had the security of a nurse at the end of my buzzer, food delivered to my bed or a bed pan to save me having to manoeuvre my very sore and sorry leg out of the bed.  With my husband at work and my two children at school, I found myself having to navigate without assistance, to the kitchen or toilet and back to the couch.  I was so worried that I’d fall, or drop a crutch and be stuck all day.  For peace of mind, I wanted to take my phone everywhere with me.  I very quickly discovered it was too hard to carry anything while using the crutches around the house, let alone out and about.  My handbag, even though quite small, would get in the way.  A friend did some research and sent me a link to a video, showing me how to solve my problem.  I could SEW my own pocket.  Yeah right!  Like I was in any position to pull out the sewing machine and whip one up!  Reading the comments on the video, I realised that there was a real need for a pocket like this.  That’s when the idea for ‘Personals Easy To Access’ aka PETA Pocket was born.

What a fantastic creation the PETA pocket is!!

What a fantastic creation the PETA pocket is!!! Late last year I broke my leg and I’ll never forget the lovely Peta visiting me one day. She walked into my house, straight to my crutches and slid the pocket in place and began telling me all about it. At the time, I remember thinking ‘what am I going to need this for?’….. turns out that after 3 months on crutches, I was thinking 'what didn’t I need this for!' I used it to hold all the usual valuables (keys, phone, purse) when I was out of the house, but to be honest, I found it of most benefit when I was at home. As the crutches were with me ALL of the time, it meant all the things I needed were too; phone for some chit chat; purse for all my online shopping. I felt like it gave me some independence back. I also kept my medical notes in it, so every time I had an appointment with Doctors or physio they were with me. The drink holder is a genius addition and not only did I use this for my water bottle but I would sit my travel mug in it. This meant I could get my hot cuppa from the kitchen, to my comfy chair in front of the TV. The PETA pocket certainly made my months on crutches so much easier and I’d highly recommend it.

ONE VERY GRATEFUL CUSTOMER

Have you ever tried to walk with crutches whilst trying to carry your keys, mobile and your purse or wallet? It's not easy and how far do we go without these essentials these days. Learning to use the crutches was challenge enough. My P.E.T.A Pocket has made moving about on my crutches so much easier and safer. I no longer have to worry about juggling or my bag getting in the road. It was very easy to attach to my crutches and is very lightweight. Thanks Peta I am one very grateful customer.

PERFECT GIFT FOR GRANDMA'S WALKER

This would be the perfect gift for my Grandma's walker. She could keep the home phone in there for when she's moving around the house. And it would be a much safer option than her handbag for when she's out of the house. Her handbag almost caused her to fall over when it fell while hanging on her walker.

SUCH AN AWESOME PRODUCT

This is such an awesome product. I was on crutches most recently for over 9 months and had to carry a little shoulder bag around for all my personals (purse, phone, keys). I found it so hard to carry a little shoulder bag, but the only other alternative was a little backpack, which was a a lot of stopping and fiddling around trying to get stuff out... This however looks to be a million times
